Henry Schein has announced that it is now the exclusive distributor in the U.S. for Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus, a non-invasive preventive treatment for early-stage cavities, according to a press release issued on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

The news follows Henry Schein’s agreement with Swiss company vVARDIS to serve as the exclusive U.S. distributor of its drill-free Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus product to larger dental service organizations (DSOs).

“We believe Curodont advances clinical care by treating early decay before it worsens,” said Stanley M. Bergman, chairman and CEO of Henry Schein, the world’s largest provider of health care solutions for office-based dental and medical practitioners.

“With this treatment, the dental team can treat early-stage caries non-invasively and on the same day instead of sending patients home untreated,” he added.

Dental professionals have long awaited a treatment that can address the sub-clinical signs of caries without the need for invasive procedures. According to Henry Schein, nearly 80% of patients exhibit early signs of decay, yet many leave dental offices without receiving treatment, risking more serious oral health issues. Henry Schein’s press release called this an “untapped opportunity.”

In March 2024, an NIH-funded study demonstrated the efficacy of non-invasive treatments like silver diamine fluoride, underscoring the growing demand for preventive, drill-free solutions in dentistry.
