The Department of Orthodontics at University at Buffalo honored Stephen Aszkler for his commitment and service to the department with the inaugural S. Aszkler Distinguished Service Award.
Stephen Aszkler first opened his practice in 1973, joined UB School of Dental Medicine in 2008 as a volunteer faculty member, and became an official clinical assistant professor in 2010. The 81-year-old orthodontist continues to teach two days a week on campus.
Despite entering practice 50 years ago, Aszkler keeps up with the technological changes to orthodontics and shares his knowledge with the orthodontic students at UB.
“When my youngest son, Robert, graduated from UB’s dental school and joined the practice, he became the catalyst for a lot of change. Many things became computerized; he brought us into the 21st century,” Aszkler says. “Working with him and collaborating with other faculty members and residents at UB has kept me current on contemporary practices.”
